if this is a recurring issue try valerian. Works wonders when my brain won't stop running on overdrive. It doesn't make you sleep as much as it makes you calm (there is some drowsyness, but it's not like a BAM knock out or anything). I take 3 capsules about 30-60 minutes before I go to bed if I need to sleep. I take 1, 3 times a day, if I am having a lot of anxiety/panic attacks. It helps a lot.
