to hug or not to hug...
SO, how many of you are real life huggers (as in would hug anyone, even someone you just met), how many don't really DO hugs and how many are somewhere in between, and what has some of your hugging based experience been?
I know this is a silly question, it's just been on my mind for some reason- like how sometimes a word will just sound weird for a while and gets stuck in your head? Only with hugs.
For myself, I like hugs but I'm cautious- I used to be a hug anyone sort, but I had a hug misfire and now I'm all cautious... (went to hug a friend and was totally rejected. My husband forgot to warn me that she doesn't really like to be touched)
So I'm always willing to hug someone when they initiate one, I am not likely to offer one myself any more.
So, yeah, where do you stand on hugging? lol

I'm a big hugger. My friends that don't like hugs get the arm around the shoulder, quick slap on the back and then back off.
I have friends who give full body "I" hugs that feel so good. But I think my favourite hugs are from Moppet. Those little arms around my neck holding me tight. I love her sooo much....

I'll hug women that want/offer one, but I'm cool if there is no hug as well.
I'll only hug guys if they're a really close friend/family member and if they are not going to be seen for a while or something really bad has happened.

Oh, I'm definitely very huggy with family and friends- my poor son gets snagged for a hug every time he walks by (he's 9 now, gotta get hugs while I still can!)
But people in general, I'm more cautious than I used to be. Part of me is sad about that...

It'll be ok, man. You'll get through this. Just remember that we're all thinking of you.

Ehh... I'm not too big on hugging anymore. It seems the older I get the less I want random people touching me.
Pretty soon I'll be brandishing a bat and screaming at children to get off my lawn.

I'm not a big hugger. I'll hug if i somebody else gets the hug ball rolling. I'm just not a touchy feely kinda guy.

Re: to hug or not to hug...
I'm actually a big hugger myself.
I love coaxing people into hugging me when they're not sure of such.
Usually I throw one of my patented "c'mon, bring it in." with my arms out and such and it takes people out of their shell.
I know it doesnt work with everyone, but I'm very good at reading people and know who to pull that sort of thing on.
and yes, I know the whole "c'mon, bring it in." thing is corny, that's the appeal and a big piece of the comedy I throw i.r.l.

See, you'd totally get a hug from me, I'm just nervous about initiating them, I'm more than willing to complete an initiated hug though (usually. As long as I'm not creeped out, lol)

Not that you'd guess from here but yeah, im a social tyrannosaur.
Only thing that keeps my sanity at work is the vast interactiosn with the large no. Of employees.
I love that huge melting pot of personalities.

Re: to hug or not to hug...
I'm kind of a people person, until I'm not... I genuinely LIKE people, and get along with just about anyone (kind of a diplomat) but I get insecure and overwhelmed really easily. Sometimes I get so exhausted from being "on" at work all day with hundreds of customers that I have to be alone for a good hour when I get home before I'm civil and can stand to be talked to/touched.
As much as I like working with people and interacting with many on a daily basis, sometimes I wish I had a solitary job of some sort so I could have more peace and less drama!
No idea where I was going there, but there it is. I'm too tired to be coherent m-kay? XD

Maybe one day a work week where you workk in an offfice with only a computer to engage people with?
something to recharge the ol batteries while. Getting your social fix under controlled circumstances?

That's it exactly, I love spending time with people, even a lot of them, when I feel up to it, I just happen to be in a job where I have to deal with them even when I'm NOT up to it
Can't afford to be picky about where I work at the moment though, there aren't many open jobs out there for non skilled/non schooled workers like me. Especially not around here. Just found out the other day that we live in the poorest county in Colorado. Figures, lol!
I'm VERY happy that I have the next two days off though, I can deal with fewer people and more horses! XD

Re: to hug or not to hug...
Im a big hugger... somewhat similair to zod with the social t-rex thing, too so I'm very good at bringing people out of their shells... the only thing that really puts me in a bad mood these days, is when I go a day or so without a good conversation... I don't function well, when I'm starved of social interaction.
