Seriously, if it's brain not shutting off keeping you awake give Valerian a try. it has a similar effect to Valium, it calms you down and relaxes you enough to fall asleep. It works like a charm for me for sleep and anxiety issues. I take 3 at night if I can't sleep, and if I start having a lot of panic/anxiety attacks I take one with each meal and it keeps me fairly level. Slightly sleepy but not freaking out, which helps.

as far as the hiccups- breathe in and out for 2 breaths or so as SLOWLY as you possibly can, the idea is to gain back control of your diaphragm.

Just a warning, valarian smells like feet.

It shouldn't.

However if you're on anti-depressants like I am, (2 actually) then the Valerian won't work, because my melatonin production is already been boosted.

Hmm, I find mine pretty cheap at a natural food store...

Good luck, hope it helps you as much as it helps me. The doc keeps trying to put me on everything from paxil to prozax to zoloft and I keep trying to tell her I'm not depressed just stressed and the valerian has worked better than anything else she's put me on for that without any nasty side effects.

Word of wisdom though, only use it when you need it, it can be slightly taxing on the liver or kidneys or something like that if you over use it.
