NaNoWriMo 2010
This topic isn't about the books or authors you read, but rather the book you can write and the author you can be.
National Novel Writing Month 2010 is swiftly approaching. The challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. More details at www.nanowrimo.org.
I attempted it last year and got up to 43,541 words, so this year I'm gonna win, by gum!

I am going to be doing it as well. I made the 50k, but I don't think I ended with a workable story. This year I am going to attempt to finish the first draft of my second novel-length manuscript in 30 days. So probably around 80k or so.

So are me and gnurd it for competitors this year?
In addition to the competition I am keeping a running blog going out to one year (start of Nanowrimo next year) following the manuscript from writing, through revising and to contract.

I hope a few other folks join in. I know we got some other writerly people out there.
Re: NaNoWriMo 2010
Still too scared to try, plus between work and helping with horse rescue and social life I have no time.
I'm a reader not a writer XD

There's nothing to be scared of. There's no penalty for not making it all the way to 50K, and there's really nothing to win if you do make it. It's just a challenge for yourself.
Re: NaNoWriMo 2010
Can't this year, I've got too many paying projects on my plate: Paths of Power 2 (class sourcebook), World of Tethus (campaign world book), Heart of Stone (adventure for high (15+) level characters), revisions to Tome of Monsters depending on instances of playtesting... not mention finishing Blonde Sonya's outfit.

I won NaNoWriMo this year! I'm past 50,000 words, but my story still has a ways to go.
Re: NaNoWriMo 2010
Congrads.
I would try one of these years but for me to be able to write coherently it is like pulling teeth. Hence the reason why no one ever sees me write more then a paragraph for anything.

It's Ninnywromero, it doesn't have to be coherent, just long.
Nah, I kid. Well done, gnurd.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2010
It's done! I wrote 50,000 in November, and it took me until May to add another 8,000. This sucka is done, though!

Re: NaNoWriMo 2010
NaNoWriMo winners get a code for CreateSpace, a self-publishing website connected with Amazon. The code hooks me up with a free paperback copy of my novel. The coolest part of that for me was getting to design a cover.
So, here's the cover of the first draft of my novel.

The proof copy of my book came in the mail today. Always cool to see my work printed.
